Vervain (Verbena hastata)
Native perennial to 4’ tall and 1’ wide. Spiky purple flowers on stalks above lanceolate, serrated leaves make this a great perennial for back of garden and native landscapes. Flowers begin at bottom of stalk and bloom for long period as they climb up to the top. Will tolerate some shade, but blooms and grows best in a sunnier environment with a little more water. Flowers in mid to late summer depending on exposure. Pairs well with valerian and skullcap for a nervine garden
